COME SCRIVERE  LA "COVER LETTER" E LA" REFERENCE LETTER" AGLI OSPEDALI  USA PER RICHIEDERE UNA RESIDENCY O UNA FELLOWSHIP:

COVER LETTER

Una volta superati gli esami di certificazione ECFMG bisogna inviare il proprio curriculum agli ospedali che offrono residency e/o fellowship elencati nel Green Book. Insieme al curriculum occorre inviare una lettera, (cover letter) indicando brevemente perche si e' interessati a quel particolare programma, i motivi della scelta di lavorare negli U.S.A, e il proprio contributo scientifico.
Bisogna ricordare che sia le lettere che i curriculum sono letti da diverse persone (segretarie, medici, docenti),che fanno una prima cernita delle richieste. una cover letter e/o un curriculum non curati , o scritti in un inglese non corretto, spesso non vengono neanche considerati, e di conseguenza non viene neppure inviata al richiedente un modulo di iscrizione (application form) al programma. Segue un esempio di Cover Letter, che deve essere personalizzata e adattata alle proprie esigenze:

 score .., TOEFL: passed, CSA: passed.) (se si sono ottenuti voti inferiori al 200 e' meglio mettere:  I obtained the Ecfmg certificate in.(anno)

Lettera di presentazione/ Reference Letter

La lettera del Rettore di solito ''presenta'' il candidato che intende cercare una posizione di training negli Stati Uniti, indicando il voto di laurea, una descrizione breve del curriculum di studi e di ricerca. I rettori delle Universita' Italiane sono di solito molto disponibili, e hanno quasi sempre delle lettere ''proforma''. Le altre 3 lettere di presentazione sono molto importanti in quanto devono dimostrare di conoscere a fondo il candidato. Le lettere possono essere scritte dai professori con cui si e' studiato o con cui si e' lavorato. Devono sempre provenire da professionisti medici, o da professori della Facolta' di Medicina (e assolutamente non da altre persone anche se socialmente prominenti come cardinali, politici, ecc.) Non e' necessario che siano conosciuti a livello internazionale anche se questo puo' sicuramente aiutare. Spesso i professori dicono al candidato di preparare una lettera che poi firmeranno, per questo vi suggeriamo degli schemi con delle frasi che potete usare, ed un esempio di lettera di presentazione.
